Perceptual Dialects

Perpetual Dialects (part one 2009)
the American vernacular in tones of radiance
concept/choreography by Stefanie Weber

As an effort to expand what and who the art-form of Jazz and Rhythm Tap Dance is for and capable of expressing, dance artist Stefanie Weber has partnered with interactive objects and experience creator James Daher in creating a live experiment in illuminating vibrations and motions of a group of tap performers who are not afraid to step out of time.  Performed by the Community Access to The Arts’ TAP MURMURS with Ted Murray on alto saxophone.

James Charles Daher is a Brooklyn based new media artist. His work has been featured on CNET, Make Magazine and free103.9. James is a recent graduate from the Interactive Telecommunications Pr ogram at NYU, and received a BFA with honors in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts, where he concentrated on visual communication design. He has presented interactive works at Eyebeam, Sony Wonder Lab, Dumbo Art Under the Bridge Festival, Figment Art Festival, Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film & Television, The Grassroots Media Conference, and Hunters Electronic Social Club.

Breaking ground with the Tap Murmurs in 2009, Stefanie Weber has had the opportunity to further explore her passion for experimentation, invention and light. She is based in Massachusetts where she barters her time between the Berkshires, Boston and the Pioneer Valley. Stefanie is a founding member, choreographer and performer with the up and coming Commonwealth Tap Collective, the popular Silver Swimmers USA, and is the director of the Creatures of Habitat/COH eNsemble.

An alum of the Jacob’s Pillow school, she sites Jazz Tap masters Dianne Walker and Jimmy Slyde as her most “soleful” influences. Stefanie enjoys dancing for a myriad of artists including choreographers Caryn Heilman (LiquidBody Dance) and CATA’s own Dawn Lane.
